Helen Hughes

Helen started her nursing career in 1998 as a trainee veterinary nurse in a small animal practice in North Tyneside. She became a qualified nurse in 2000 and went on to obtain her Advanced Diploma in Surgery in 2003. 

She always wanted to work in referral nursing and developed her skills to specialise in a particular area of surgical nursing and ophthalmology from 2008 to 2013. 

Helen joined Moorview Vets in January 2014 as the role of Head Nurse to manage a team of 12 nurses including both students and qualified nurses. As the business has grown her responsibilities have changed direction and is now the Hospital Director as of 2022. 

In her spare time, Helen enjoys horse riding, running and visiting the Lake District. She would like to say she owned a dog called Moose but that would not be true as any dog owner is fully aware, we are mere servants to their everyday needs, and he certainly keeps the Hughes household on its toes.
