Rebecca is a human physiotherapist with 17 years experience working for the NHS, having qualified from Teesside University in 2002. She then studied Veterinary Physiotherapy at the Royal Veterinary College London, qualifying in 2005 and has been treating animals since.
Rebecca now solely works with animals, specialising in small animal rehabilitation but continues to treat occasional horses.
Rebecca runs regular physiotherapy clinics at Moorview Referrals treating inpatients, outpatients and external referrals from other practices.
Physiotherapy is as important for animals as people, helping to reduce pain, improve function, accelerate healing and better quality of life. She often treats dogs and other small animals with arthritis, soft tissue injuries and after orthopedic and neurological surgeries and conditions.
All dogs having spinal surgery, hip replacements and cruciate surgery recieve physiotherapy.
Treatment is enjoyable for animals involving massage and soft tissue techniques, stretching, LASER therapy and rehabilitation exercises and techniques.
Owners are taught exercises, hands on techniques and given advice on home environment and exercises specific to their pet.
Animals have been a lifelong passion for Rebecca having ridden horses since age 5 and owned many different pets. Currently Rebecca has a labrador called Snoopy, two cats Tigger and Blue and horses Santon, Molly and Solo.
