Spotlight on Neurology

Introducing our neurology specialist!

Congratulations to Jos for passing her ECVN exam - an incredible achievement!

Jos graduated from Utrecht University in 2015 and started her first year in general practice in the south of The Netherlands. Following this, she performed internships in both The Netherlands and New Zealand before arriving in the UK. In February 2019, Jos joined the Neurology Service as a resident Neurology/Neurosurgery at the Small Animal Hospital in Glasgow before joining Moorview Referrals in 2022.

Our Seizure Clinics have Launched

Our seizure clinic is a specialised centre lead by veterinary European board trained neurologists. The clinic ensures that owners receive the dedicated time and support they need to understand the impact of caring for a pet with epilepsy.

During consultation we will discuss different medications and which ones may work best for their pet. In addition, we will also consider non-drug treatments such as dietary therapy or seizure devices.

Reasons for attending the seizure clinic include:

  • Ongoing seizure activity despite primary medication
  • Alternative treatment options in refractory cases
  • Additional help with diagnosis, management and decision-making - we provide a tailored plan
  • Help with seizure preparedness including the development of a seizure action plan and how to keep pets safe

Our hospital is home to state-of-the-art equipment and a specialist-led neurology team, so you can rest assured that your client and patient are in safe hands. In addition, we will ensure you are kept up to date with your patients treatment plan and progress.

Case Study: Kaiya's Story

Kaiya, a five-month-old Border Collie, was presented to the neurology team as an urgent case with a 4-day history of progressive stiffness which started in the pelvic limbs. She had been completely healthy prior to this.

Treatment for Clostridium tetani was provided and Kaiya is expected to make a full recovery.
