Our Seizure Clinic Has Launched

We’re pleased to announce that our highly anticipated seizure clinic is now open and the specialist-led team can accept patients.

Our seizure clinic is a specialised centre led by Jos Bongers DVM DipECVN MRCVS, European Specialist in Veterinary Neurology. The clinic ensures that owners receive the dedicated time and support they need to understand the impact of caring for a pet with epilepsy.

At Moorview Referrals, we are aware that a one-size approach to epilepsy is not sustainable and that’s why our team considers both pets and their owners needs when developing a tailored treatment and follow-up plan.

Epilepsy is an extremely complex disease and to ensure pets live a high-quality life, management must take into consideration many different factors and not just medication.  During consultation, our experienced team will review different medications and will also consider non-drug treatments including, dietary therapy and seizure devices.

Reasons for attending the seizure clinic include: 

• Ongoing seizure activity despite primary medication 
• Alternative treatment options in refractory cases 
• Additional help with diagnosis, management and decision-making - we provide a tailored plan 
• Help with seizure preparedness including the development of a seizure action plan and how to keep pets safe 

Our specialist-led neurology team will work with first opinion vets to ensure they are kept up to date and will receive a report of the consultation and future plan. Complex cases are preferably seen back via the seizure clinic until satisfactory seizure management has been reached. Should the pet be referred back to their primary vet for follow-up, we will ensure the vet receives a seizure and immediate post-seizure plan along with recommendations for future management.
