Helen started her nursing career in 1998 as a trainee veterinary nurse in a small animal practice in North Tyneside. She became a qualified nurse in 2003 and went on to obtain my advanced diploma in surgery in 2003.
She had always wanted to work in referral nursing and developed her skills to specialise in a particular area of surgical nursing and ophthalmology from 2008 to 2013.
Helen joined Moorview Vets in January 2014 as the role of Head Nurse to manage a team of 12 nurses including both students and qualified nurses. As the business has grown her responsibilities have changed direction and is now one of the Directors of Moorview alongside Jonathan and Alison.
In her spare time, Helen enjoys horse riding, running and visiting the Lake District. She would like to say she owned a cat called Surfi but as any cat owners are fully aware this is not the case – she is a mere servant to his everyday needs and with the new addition of her Border Terrier pup, Moose the Hughes household is a busy one.
