Empowered to achieve excellence

Moorview employees are empowered to achieve excellence

With the challenges over the past few years, we decided as a company to reflect on where we are and where we want to be. With this, we invested in our brilliant teams and restructured.

At Moorview Referrals, we know our success is down to the hard work and commitment of our team and we wanted to give them the opportunity to reach their full potential.

We achieved this by:

Leadership Team

We started off the changes by appointing Helen Hughes, previously our Practice Director, as Hospital Director. With over three years’ experience of overseeing the business side of our operations along with her extensive background as an RVN, Helen has been able to hit the ground running and is in a strong position to excel and to bring positive change to Moorview.

Christopher Green has recently been appointed as our new Clinical Director. Christopher has extensive experience in small animal work, including over 10 years in senior leadership roles, and in developing veterinary teams and businesses. Having Christopher on board will allow us to continue to support and develop our clinical team and to improve our clinical services.

Helen and Christopher are responsible for the strategic direction of the practice, financial oversight and ensuring exceptional standards of clinical care.

Veterinary Team

Our veterinary team are committed and dedicated to delivering exceptional care and to help them manage their workload, we created Heads of Service positions for our ECC, Internal Medicine and Surgery teams. The strength of existing talent within the vet team enabled us to make these appointments internally, with Vio Doran heading ECC, Kate Green in medicine and Jessica Bedwell heading the surgery team.

Our Heads of Service lead the clinical governance within their departments and are responsible for day-to-day oversight of their teams. The direct relationship that the Heads of Service have with their respective departments enables needs to be quickly identified and responded to and, working with the Clinical Director, ensures they can deliver an ever-improving service to our patients and clients.

Nursing and Animal Care Team

Over the past couple of years our nursing department has grown considerably and we wanted to ensure that everyone within team was supported and working in their preferred discipline. As a result, we created a new position - Nursing Administration Manager, to assist the newly appointed Clinical Nurse Manager. Discipline teams were created and new Team Leaders for Surgery, ECC, OOH and Internal Medicine were appointed. In addition, we introduced a new banding salary structure and have revamped the way that students are supported in their training development.

We have also continued to support nurse training and five of our animal care assistants have secured a college place for this academic year which we are thrilled about. Nurturing the next generation has always been important to us, and the changes we have made will reinforce our commitment to nursing education.

Customer Care Team

Recognising that customer service has never been more important, our customer care team has grown and we have therefore created a senior position to support our leadership roles within practice. In addition, we have launched a comprehensive training schedule for our new starters as we want everyone to feel welcomed, supported and encouraged.

Restructuring this year has made a tremendous improvement to our inter-disciplinary ways of working and has laid the groundwork for us to continue to grow and thrive by having the right people doing the right jobs.

We believe these changes will allow us to develop and improve our service offer, enabling us to provide exceptional care to pets and their people.

We are all incredibly excited for the future of our practice.
